Batu Ferringhu

I've moved on to Batu Ferringhi. After I posted last night I discovered a guy who paints pictures of pets onto canvas bags. Sally sent me a picture of Benson and I paid the guy to paint that. He had another to do before Benson so I had to wander around for a couple of hours. I found a karaoke bar but it was virtually empty and the song just kept saying happy over and over, but with no Pharell or Minions, only strange asians.

I went back and took a time-lapse of the guy painting Benson. It is pretty satisfying to discover real talent like that. His Facebook is PetsTalent and he sends orders overseas. You just send him a picture by whatsapp. It cost me $17.

I'm now at a hostel that is basically the opposite of the last one. Whereas the last one was full with maybe 50 people and fairly ordinary, this one has just 8 and is very clean and quiet. The guy who was supposed to be running it disappeared for a few hours today so when the doorbell rang I let the newly arrived guests in and showed them around!

At that stage there were 5 of us and we were saying how it's rare to have such a mixed bag, distance wise. There was a Dutch girl, a yank girl, an Indian bloke, a South Korean bloke and an Aussie. Then 3 German guys arrived and ruined it. It's rare for Germans to arrive suddenly en masse and ruin everything...  Actually they seem nice too.
