Expensive day in Katherine

I don't think much is going to happen today so I may as well write this now.

First, previously in this blog I left you hanging about my fork and bowl. Was it still here? Well...

Yes

And no.

The bowl has been repurposed as a dog water dish. No sign of my fork.

But this morning I found...
A different, much worse fork.

After I lost my fork I actually got a new one the next night. I borrowed one off some neighbours and they at first said I could have it for 3 days, then forever. That was good of them. I at first thought I'd have to go around picking up dogshit with it so they didn't want it back, but in the end it was just the sight of me eating that turned them off.

Today I went in to Katherine and bought a new headlamp. It was $50. My old one was $13 and was a ripper so this one better take X-rays. My old one was also rechargeable and this one isn't. Oh how I miss it.

I also bought a travel pillow. I've been using one of those big red 30 litre dry bags as a pillow.  Amazingly my mattress repair job held up. Didn't leak at all. So I'll hang on to this mattress until the warranty is almost up. Because the mattress is so small it frees up space for a pillow. Space isn't really that tight, but I am.

I've also got the bike booked in for a service, rego check and some shiny new shoes tomorrow. The new tyres are not as knobby as the old ones. I'm half thinking about not doing the Gibb and getting road tyres. My mate rang today and he is on the Gibb. He said it is super dry out there. I probably better do some research. He reckons it is about 350km of dirt now that they've sealed a lot of it. That's pretty doable.

Here is a picture of a horse I took last night.
