After a silly decision to catch public transport to the airport, and the complete incompetence of Airasia, I managed to get on the 15 minute flight from Penang to Langkawi.
When I arrived I went straight from the hostel to Centang beach. Then I turned around and went back to the hostel. The beach was packed with thousands of people and dozens of jet skis.
Instead I rented a scooter and took myself on my own little tour. On the north of the island there are much nicer, more remote beaches. I visited all of them but the best was by far Tenjung Rhu. It is the most remote. I found a little stand of trees right along the shore and set up there. The water was perfect and there are islands out in the bay. There were also only 5 or 6 other people.
Today I did the exact same thing.
Tomorrow I go to Dayang Bunting. I'm really looking forward to it. It isnt as developed and I think the place I'm staying is the only accomodation on the island. In fact I'm having trouble finding info (online) on getting there that isn't part of a Island hopping tour. I'm sure if I walk out the door and ask I'll have no trouble.
I somehow only managed to post one photo of Tenjung Rhu, which is the one with my legs in it.
ReplyDeleteThat last shot of the lawn is awesome
ReplyDeleteThat's a golf course. A pretty flash one I'd say.
