Boring post

I went to the beach yesterday and it was really nice. St Jean le Thomas is probably the nicest of the seaside places I've stayed. It's definitely because of the sand beaches, but also because the shore front is unspoiled. There is no esplanade or restaurants or ice cream shops. Just a sandy track that runs along the top of the rocks that line the beach.

The town centre doesn't seem to exist. I followed the signs which led me up and down streets, through paddocks, across creeks. Straight line distance probably 300 metres. Follow the signs and it's more like 3km. Someone's taking the mick with those signs. I got to a place that must have been the town centre and there was a restaurant, a minimart that stocks wine and baked beans, a tourist information centre that was closed and a bus stop. So I'm hungry.

Last night I wandered to this little shop next to the camp ground and got a hot dog. I sat there while I was eating it and the bloke brought out a big plate of mussels for me. Good stuff. Unfortunately today he's closed.

There was a storm last night. I watched the lighting from the shore. It was pretty impressive. There was lightning cracking over Mont Saint-Michel and more out to sea. Then another storm came over the hill and the lightning was crackling right above me so I legged it. I walked through the park and could hear kids and dogs both whimpering at the storm.

It's really humid today so I was keen for a swim despite the clouds, but it appears the water has buggered right off. Yesterday when I went for a swim the water was up to the road. Today when I went to go it was 5km away. In fact it appears that it is sand the whole way to Mont Saint-Michel, which is about 10km away. It's been all sand for about the last 3 hours. I'm thinking I can make it...

If I don't decide to run across the sea floor I'm going to most likely push the bike to Avranches tomorrow morning. It's 19km. If it's shitting me, I'll ride it on its wonky wheel. If it's still shitting me I'll dump it and catch the bus. I'm tossing up whether to take the road or go along the beach.

Boring post, not much else to say, hopefully tomorrow will be more interesting.
